JUDGING CRITERIA

 

Qualifications for judging list

‘C’ List (Breed Specialists)
The Nominee shall have been seriously actively involved with Saint Bernards for a minimum period of three (3) years and have the support of the Eastern Saint Bernard Club

‘C’ List (Non-Breed Specialists)
For aspirant Judges who have shown interest in the breed and have the support of the Eastern Saint Bernard Club. Persons who have judged the breed at limited and open shows but do not qualify for the ‘B’ list will normally be included.

‘B’ List (Breed Specialists)

  1. The nominee shall have been seriously and actively involved with Saint Bernards for a minimum of five (5) years and have the support of the Eastern Saint Bernard Club
  2. To have judged a minimum of three (3) classes of this breed at Open or Championship shows without C.C’s
  3. To have judged a minimum of nine (9) dogs of this breed
  4. To have attended at least one (1) Breed specific Judging seminar.

‘B’ List (Non-breed specialists)

  1. Have a minimum of seven (7) years judging experience in any one (1) breed and have the support of the Eastern Saint Bernard Club.
  2. To have judged a minimum of six (6) classes of this breed at Open or Championship shows without C.C’s
  3. To have judged a minimum of eighteen (18) dogs of this breed.

A3 List (Breed Specialists)

  1. To have a minimum of seven (7) years judging experience in this breed and have support of the Eastern Saint Bernard Club.
  2. To have judged one (1) club show.
  3. To have judged a minimum of twenty (20) Breed classes at Open or Championship shows without C.C’s with an adequate geographical spread.
  4. To have judged a minimum of forty (40) dogs.
  5. To have bred or owned a minimum of three (3) dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud book (save in exceptional circumstances)
  6. To have stewarded at twelve (12) shows.
  7. To have attended a seminar given by a K.C Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination on K.C Regulations and Judging procedures.
  8. To have attended a seminar given by a K.C Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement.
  9. To have attended and passed an examination by a K.C Accredited trainer on “hands-on conformation of the dog”.
  10. To have attended at least one Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the relevant K.C Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and or assessment where applicable.

    A3 (Non-breed Specialists)
  1. To have a minimum of seven (7) years judging experience in any one breed (to include five (5) years in this breed) and have the support of the Eastern Saint Bernard Club.
  2. To have judged Saint Bernards at a minimum of one (1) club show and five (5) open shows or championship shows without C.C’s with an adequate geographical spread.
  3. To have judged a minimum of thirty (30) dogs.
  4. To have awarded C.C’s in at least one (1) other breed.
  5. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three (3) dogs of any breed when they obtained their first entry in the K.C Stud book (save in Exceptional circumstances)
  6. To have stewarded at twelve (12) shows.
  7. To have attended at least one Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the relevant K.C Codes of Best Practice.

A2 List
For persons who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 List and who have been assessed in accordance with the K.C requirements and accepted by the Kennel Club for inclusion on the A2 list and have the support of the Eastern Saint Bernard Club.

A1 List
For persons who have previously been approached by the Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in the breed and have the support of the Eastern Saint Bernard Club.
Existing Championship show judges are not required to apply for inclusion on this list.

Please Note:
The above qualifications are guidelines only for the committee.
Attainment of criteria does not automatically guarantee inclusion on any list.

Only those judges who are on the ‘B’ List of a club, or above that level, are permitted to judge at open shows with more than three (3) classes for the breed.
